We know she will look over you all from her place in heaven.
Sincerely,
Dear Jeff & Staff,
First, please excuse my typewritten letter – having a sprained wrist has turned my handwriting into an abomination of nearly unreadable scrawl. Hopefully, my hand will not forget how to write while the sprain mends.
I write to thank you Jeff, and all of your staff, for the care and loving concern that everyone shared with Shirley while she was a resident at your facility. It is very comforting to my family and me that Shirley passed peacefully, in comfort, and with dignity. If there is anything uplifting in her passing, it is that now she is no longer in discomfort, that she is of sound hearing and of crystal clear mind. Regrettably, she did not get to see her first great-grandchild, Conner Layne Posey, a son born to our granddaughter Leanne and her husband Joshua on May 14th of this year in Texas. On the plus side, our children Joseph, Michael, and Cathy, as well as six of our ten grandchildren were able to visit her at Colonial Poplin before she passed. (Grandson Matthew and granddaughter Heather were both working out of the country at the time Granddaughter Jillian was in San Diego at law school, and granddaughter Leanne with great-grandson Conner were in route from Texas). Remarkably, Shirley recognized every one of us with her signature great smile even to the end.
I am enclosing a check for $500.00 as a donation to your facility in Shirley’s memory to be used as you see best, but I ask that some of the donations be used to provide a small celebration of Shirley’s life for your staff – maybe some pizza and beer or such. Shirley would like that.
In closing, I thank you and each and every one of your staff who had some interaction with Shirley for their kindnesses and friendship shared with her during her stay, and for all the concerns and kindnesses they shared with me and others in our family. God bless you all.”
P.S. I’m also enclosing a check from my cousin Judith in memory of Shirley. I would appreciate it if you could send her note of acknowledgment and thanks.
To the Staff at Colonial Poplin,
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all your love, support & care for my Dad, Rudy Paul! It kills us to be so far away from him during this time in his life, but knowing he’s receiving such incredible loving care by all of you, makes it a bit easier. God bless each & every one of you for what you do for the seniors!”
With love,
